This weekend my mother heard about some tsunami or something near Australia (where my sister lives). She reacted to the news by calling my sister up so she could say goodbye to her in case she didn't see her again. Anyone who is familiar with my mother will not be surprised, but I think she has even topped herself this time.

Just got this email from my mother regarding a medical test she had today:
"My nuke test went OK ---the stuff they put in my veins was not as bad as I feared.There was some discomfort,but I got through it.
The worst part was lying perfectly stiil for 15 min. with my arms over my head while they took pictures with a huge machine.It gave me a glimpse of what Jesus may have felt on the cross---but for 3 hours or more.Excruciating!!!"

I love my mom.

I admit it, I sometimes have a problem with patience, and I do find myself getting annoyed a lot when I have to stick to someone else's agenda. Which is why I tend to do things on my own a fair bit rather than with company. I went to the Polish festival in Roncesvalles today (it's a part of Toronto, for those who are unfamiliar with the city). Food vendors, games, music, arts, crafts, the works. Busy place on weekends in general, let alone on festival days. I met up with a friend. She will insist on bringing her woolly mammoth-sized dog along with her to the most inappropriate (ie. crowded) events. Besides being next to impossible to maneouver around with, he has a tendency to lean heavily into you with no warning, causing you to stumble into the person next to you. Also, he's very dusty. I dressed nicely for the afternoon out, and came home filthy. I am consoling myself by pigging out on cheap chocolate.
The more dogs I meet, the more I like cats.
